Five @ 3Arena, Dublin

What do you do when your favourite boyband suddenly reunites after almost 25 years and announces a tour? Obviously, you immediately buy tickets! Or… maybe not. Because this idiot judged them on the time when there were only 3 of them still performing and it just wasn’t Five. Eh, maybe I’ll go see them if they add some European dates outside of the UK & Ireland 🤷‍♀️. And then they announced an Australian tour before a European one. Well then, screw you! 😡 (I am so, so sorry guys!)

But then the tour started and videos from the first concerts made it onto my Instagram algorithm and it reminded me of just how much I loved their music and how much the band meant to me. How could I ever have considered not going to this tour? This is FIVE we’re talking about! Next thing I knew, I had a ticket for the last show of the tour and I was booking a flight to Dublin. Was my concert addiction getting slightly out of hand at that point, with 5 concerts in 4 countries in 4 weeks? Maybe. Did it matter? Nah, nothing could stop me from going to see Five!

2 December finally arrived and I travelled to Dublin for the last concert of the year and the one I was more excited about than any other concert in the last 25 years. The whole day felt slightly unreal, with my plans being made fairly last minute and then leaving rainy, grey Berlin behind for sunny skies in Dublin. And of course, the fact that I never expected Five would ever get back together and be even better than before. Even sitting in the 3Arena waiting for the show to start, I still couldn’t really believe this was really happening. Part of me was even worried the concert would be cancelled at the very last minute, because everything just felt too good to be true.

But the concert wasn’t cancelled and eventually Five walked onto the stage. I never expected the words Five bad boys with the power to rock you, blowing your mind, so you gotta get into, Five, whatcha waiting four, if you wanna three, two, one, let’s do it! to make me so emotional, but in that moment, they almost made me cry with pure joy and OH MY GOD THEY ARE HERE THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING! 😱😱 And they were SO. GOOD. I still loved every single song (and remembered all of the lyrics), even the ones that used to be my skip songs sounded great live. Their energy was absolutely amazing. I don’t even have the words to describe my feelings during the concert, but I enjoyed every second of it. And so did everyone around me; the atmosphere in the arena was great. It was like being a teenager again, forgetting about everything else in the world, only better and I could appreciate it so much more this time around. Honestly, it was the  best concert I’ve ever been to.

My first Five concert, I must have been around 14 or 15. What I remember most from that concert is just trying not to pass out because I barely had any space to breathe with so many hysterical fans around me. The band were little dots on a stage in the distance. In Dublin, I had a golden circle ticket so I was obviously a lot closer to the stage. But overall the atmosphere was also a lot more fun and relaxed and a lot less being pushed around. And by some miracle, I even had a perfect view without any tall guys in front of me. I actually got to experience this concert and it made me so incredibly happy! This reunion wasn’t just healing for the band, but for the fans as well.

Now we just need a European tour to happen next year! Please?   🙏 🙏 🙏
